Work notificationsThe project team will continue to deliver notifications to residents in the vicinity of the motorway regarding upcoming work in their area. Hours of work are from 7am until 6pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 1pm Saturday. Some work requires lane closures on the motorway at night due to the high volume of traffic during daytime peak periods. Notifications about night work will be provided to potentially affected residents prior to night work commencing. We are committed to keeping you informed throughout the project. Hills M2 conversion to fully electronic toll collectionThe Hills M2 converted to to cashless or fully electronic toll collection on 30 January 2012. The benefits of cashless tolling include:
The existing cash booths have been decommissioned and lanes realigned through the Main Toll Plaza and at Pennant Hills Road on and off ramps. In the coming months a new single span gantry at the main Toll Plaza will be constructed and installed approximately 300 metres west of the current toll plaza and the toll booths removed. Cashless tolling ensures simple, safe and faster journeys for motorists and remove queueing bottlenecks on the motorway. Once the upgrade is complete, the sign-posted speed through the main toll plaza will be lifted to 100km/h helping to reduce travel times on the motorway. Motorist safety will also be improved by eliminating the need to merge and weaving to cash booths. Cashless tolling improves traffic flow on the motorway and reduces traffic noise impacts for residents who live near the toll plazas. Prior to finalisation of the Hills M2 Upgrade construction, a short-term, interim cashless arrangement will be in place at the main toll plaza and Pennant Hills Road tolling locations. Changed traffic conditions, including new lane alignments and 60km/h speeds will be in place temporarily. Motorists can pay tolls using existing e-TAG and visitor's ePASS products, available up to 48 hours after their first trip, from www.roamexpress.com.au or 13 76 26. Further information regarding other tolling products is available at www.sydneymotorways.com. Traffic changes on the motorway and local roadsThere will be changes to traffic conditions on the motorway and local roads as excavation, earthwork, pavement work, median widening and line marking is carried out. Visit Traffic Management for more information on this work. Please drive with care and follow the signs.
